Milkfish (Chanos chanos Forsskål) is a popular food fish in Southeast Asia. They live in the Indian Ocean and Pacific Ocean and tend group around coastal and island with coral reefs. Fish that newly hatched young and living at sea for 2-3 weeks, then move into mangrove swamps brackish water, and sometimes watery salty lakes. Milkfish just returned to the sea when it's mature and can reproduce.
Young fish (called larva [IPA: nənər]) was collected in person from the rivers and raised in ponds. There they can be given any food and grow rapidly. After quite large (usually about 25-30 cm) banding sold fresh or frozen. Milkfish processed by frying, baked, steamed, or smoked.
